FD20 Winter Storage Best Practices
Essential Guidelines to Protect Your FarmDroid FD20 and Maximize Longevity During the Off-Season
Proper winter storage of your FD20 helps preserve vital components and ensures reliable performance season after season.
Please follow these guidelines:
- Charge and store batteries above 10°C
- Charge all batteries—including those in the power bank—to 100% before storage, using either the robot’s solar panels or the auxiliary wall charger.
- During winter, recharge the batteries every two months to prevent deep discharge; failure to do so may void your battery warranty.
- Remove batteries from the robot and store them in a dry environment with a minimum temperature of 10°C.
- Clean the seeding units
- Use gentle compressed air to carefully clean each seeding unit, focusing on the seed disc mounts, seed valves, and light sensors. For heavy deposits, use a cloth dampened with lukewarm water, avoiding any contact with electrical components.
- Remove dry soil from the robot
- Brush off dry soil from all surfaces, or use lukewarm water while avoiding electrical areas.
- Take care not to damage plastic parts such as the seeding unit casings or the main electrical box.
- Inflate tires
- Inflate all tires to 3 bars to maintain their shape and prevent deformation during storage.
- Choose a dry, moderately warm storage location
- Although the FD20 is engineered to withstand harsh field conditions, we strongly recommend storing it in a dry place such as a shed.
- If the storage area is below 10°C, disconnect the batteries and store them somewhere warmer.
- Release the safety wire
- Unwind the safety wire from the switches or remove it from the pulleys so it lies flat on the ground—this protects the wire and extends its service life.
- Switch off the main power
- Turn off the main switch to ensure safe storage and prevent unnecessary battery drain.
