Seed discs and distance rings: identification

Seed disc - distance ring

The seed disc is the part responsible for delivering the right portion of seeds (single or multiple) to the seed valve with the right timing and according to the desired spacing along the row.

Due to a broad variety of seeds and seeding set-ups, FarmDroid can provide tailor-made/tailored seed discs to meet the needs for every conditions.

To categorize the seed discs, we have printed a code on the back of each of them:

Hole type and diameter [1/10mm]

Number of holes   Disc thickness [1/10 mm]   Disc version   Compatible with droid version

To make sure the seed disc can rotate properly, the funnel is equipped with a distance ring, which is specific for the thickness of the seed disc itself. For this reason, mounting a distance ring of a different thickness than that of the seed disc would cause malfunctioning of the seeding system as well as causing potential damage to the seed motor, coupling and seed disc.

The thickness of the distance ring is found on the flat side of the outer surface, as shown in the image below:

CAUTION! 😉👇🏻

For optimal seeding performances, you must mount the same set of seed discs and spacers on all of the active trailers.

Mounting different seed discs on the same robot, while seeding, would cause malfunctioning and poor performances.

NOTE 😊

If you are willing to have a seed batch tested, please get in touch with your local distributor.
