What are the key parameters for optimal seeding

Accurate seeding ensures better crop establishment and makes weeding more efficient and precise.

Key Parameters for Optimal Seeding:

Supported or tested seeds: Ensure the seed type can be processed by the FD20.
  • When in doubt, contact your local distributor or request a free seed test at the Seed Lab.
  • Reference: tested crops
Correct seed disc and spacers: Both must be of the same thickness.
Feasible seeding distance: Choose seed discs based on desired spacing:
  • More holes = short spacing (e.g., 20-hole disc = 2–5 cm).
  • Fewer holes = wide spacing (e.g., 5-hole disc = 10–30 cm).
  • Automatic seed valve opening/closing only works if spacing ≥ 10 cm.
Correct HMI settings: Double-check robot configuration before starting:
  • Adjust driving speed, light sensor sensitivity, and seed valve usage.
  • Set the route: seed the passes first, then the headlands.
Correct mechanical settings: Ensure all trailers are consistently adjusted:
  • Seeding depth
  • Front spring tension
  • Seed cover plow position
  • Additional weight distribution
Field conditions: Prepare an optimal seedbed before seeding.
  • Must be adapted to soil type and local climate conditions.
  • Good seedbed conditions are essential for even emergence.
