VictronConnect: SolarCharger Firmware Update
Keep your FD20 operating at peak efficiency—learn how to easily update the SmartSolar Charger firmware for maximum battery performance and long-term reliability.
The SmartSolar Charger efficiently manages the energy transfer from your solar panels to the battery system.
Keeping it updated with the latest firmware is essential to maximize the lifespan and performance of your FD20’s battery pack.
Step-by-step guide
STEP 1
Begin by downloading the VictronConnect app by using this link.
STEP 2
Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and position yourself near your FD20 droid.
STEP 3
Launch the VictronConnect app on your smartphone.
STEP 4
The app will display the following:
- 2 chargers for FD20 droids manufactured in 2020 or 2021
- 1 charger for droids produced from 2022 onwards
For 2020 and 2021 droid models, each controller must be updated individually.
STEP 5
Select one of the controllers if your FD20 droid is a 2020 or 2021 model, or select the single controller displayed for droid models from 2022 onwards.
STEP 6
The app is now establishing a connection with the Solar Charge Controller.

STEP 7
When prompted, enter the default password “000000” (six zeros) to access the controller.

STEP 8
Decide whether you would like to create a new password or continue using the default.

STEP 9
Tap the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the app interface.

STEP 10
Tap "UPDATE".

STEP 11
The app will display both the current and the new firmware versions for your SmartSolar Charger.

STEP 12
The app will now begin updating the firmware.
Be sure to review the important notes displayed at the bottom of the screen before proceeding.

STEP 13
The SmartSolar Charger firmware has been successfully updated.
If you are using an FD20 droid from the 2020 or 2021 model years, please return to STEP 5 to update the second and final SmartSolar Charger before completing the process.
